Coral hairstreak (Satyrium titus)

Saw three of these lovely, strikingly patterned hairstreaks today in the west end of Ottawa. The larval food of these butterflies is the fruit and flowers of prunus, of which there was a lot in the vicinity of where I saw this guy. Interestingly, last year, I saw coral hairstreaks in the exact same area, even perching on the same shrubs.

What a lovely butterfly. Not as showy as some but still as beautiful with its neutral color and bright orange spots. Outstanding close up. V.
