Delaware skipper (Anatrytone logan), male

This skipper is very similar to the much more abundant European skipper. However, this species is larger, more yellowish/orange and the forewings are rather pointed. Photographed at the Fletcher Wildlife Garden. Interestingly, this species was not known in the Ottawa region before 1998. Since then it has spread and is now considered uncommon. It is, however, a species native to Ontario, just further south than Ottawa.
