Canadian tiger swallowtails (Papilio canadensis)

There were initially four of these guys in a cluster, but as I approached, two flew off. The object that is attracting all their attention is very fresh scat, perhaps from a raccoon. Fresh scat attracts many butterflies, seeking nutrients from it. These swallowtails measure approx. 4 inches across. This was taken in Larose Forest.
