Ichneumonid wasp (Banchus sp.), female

Found this small (about 1 inch long)Ichneumonid wasp on a tartarian honeysuckle shrub, along with a whole host of other insects, including various flies, plant bugs, bees and wasps. It is thanks to the Bug Guide folk that an ID was provided for this wasp. There are many, many ichneumonid species and I find all but the most distinctive, to be very difficult to ID.

This is an impressive find and photo to go with it! I find it hard just to tell what is an ichneumonid and not another wasp family.
