This large female Black and yellow orb weaver pounced on the Japanese Beetle that flew into her web and immediately her spinnerets were sending out reams of fine sticky silken "threads" to wrap the hapless beetle in. It took no time at all and she worked so fast she was a blur, which is why this photo is not the greatest! The silk is the white stuff coming out from the end of the spider's abdomen.
