Rusty snaketail (Ophiogomphus rupinsulensis)

Found this in Larose Forest. It was quite a surprise and I had no idea what species it was, but I did know I'd never seen a dragonfly with this brilliant green thorax and face combined with a rusty body. The only odonate that fit was Rusty Snaketail, but I sent the photo to our local dragonfly experts, Chris Lewis and Bob Bracken, who confirmed the ID. A new species for the Larose Odonate list, and one that is considered rare and local!
