The underside of a Banded argiope, one of the large orbweavers we see in late summer around Ontario. There can often be dozens of these gals in an open meadow area.
Very colorful spider you captured, Christine. As you know, I know barely anything about nature, (unfortunately). You mentioned that it is a female spider. Do the male spiders of this specy have a different color ? Very nice picture. V
WOW what a great macro of this spider! Even though I don't care for spiders, but this is a fabulous shot - great DOF. (This female needs to put a blade in her razor...ha ha ha!) MBV
