Oyster mushrooms

These were growing on the fallen trunk of a huge old sugar maple. There must have been 30 or 40 of them spread along the massive trunk. Quite a sight.

The angle/light may be playing tricks on me, but could this be a bit more special than Oyster Mushrooms ? I'm thinking Split Gill, Schizophyllum commune ?

Much detail under the mushrooms. Good lighting on them to show off their beauty.

It really looks great, Christine. What a wonderful form they have. I love the contrast of the orange of the mushrooms compared to the brown of the trees they occupy. Excellently seen, Christine. V

I've seen these growing on logs at the mushroom festival in Kennett, but never in the wild. How cool is this!! V
Great mushrooms in food too!
