Water strider (Gerridae sp.)

Larose Forest. These guys look more like spiders than bugs, but they are indeed Hemiptera. They walk on the water with ease, thanks to very fine hairs on their feet which repel water. They are also spider like in the way they use the surface of the water as spiders use their web: the slightest vibration brings them running!

Love this image! The water and the leaves look so neat. The way the strider pops out is wonderful. V
