Aphids (Superfamily: Aphidoidea)

These are insects universally disliked by gardeners because of the damage they do to plants. Basically, they do this by sucking out the plant "juices"; the more technical explanation is just that, technical, so we'll leave it out. Fortunately for gardeners, less so for the aphids, there are many predators including flies (hover fly larvae are very good predators), beetles, wasps, green lacewing larvae, etc.
