The Elephant Conservation Center is a sanctuary for sick,damaged,abused and pregnant or nusing females. These baby elephants are precious to the Lao (Asian Elephant)gene pool as there are fewer than 900 working or wild elephants left in the once fabled Lane XANG-Land of a Million Elephants.
These infants retain the gene pool necessary for the Lao elephant's survival. Exitintion threatens by 2050. The ECC is a recycled traditional Lao village/veterinary clinic/hospital,a mahout education facility,guest house,restaurant with a trad Lao menu chartered to give protection and care and altenatives to the dwindling elephants.
