This is actually after using levels and curves. He was in total darkness in the original. I should post it to show you the difference, I was afraid of overdoing it in the adjustments. Didn't want the image to look too flat.

I love the composition and the look of the couple, it could use either a fill flash or levels adjustment to bring him out of the background a bit more.
