I wish upon Venus.jpg

Walking home tonight I looked up at the sky, and the stars smiled back at me. The night is so clear, full of stars and the almost full moon. It took my breath away. And then there was Venus (I hope I'm assuming right) she's been shining bright for the past few nights. I so hope I have the right planet. They say to look West of the moon? I know it's a bad photo. Sans tripod but I couldn't resist. Who knows how clear the skies will be tomorrow.
I made a wish. I hope it comes true.

I'm starting to doubt myself. Mark, maybe it was Jupiter. It was about 7pm-7:30pm and she was standing alone away from the other stars/constellations. Then again I was looking west cos in front of me is the Hudson River. Argh, maybe while you're pulling out your telescope, I'll pay a visit to Hayden Planetarium.

Light pollution...ah that would be N.J. LOL!

If it was the brightest star-like thing you've seen in the western sky then it was Venus. Interesting because it looks like you caught it in a phase. I didn't think 75mm would be enough to catch a phase of Venus. Wow. Jupiter would be the brightest "star" in the east at about 6:30-7:00pm. Ten power binocs will reveal four moons--just specks. I've been thinking about pulling my telescope out in the front garden and trying to shoot through it. Maybe this weekend.

Looks like you're suffering from some light pollution here. If you were looking
to the West after sunset, then this would be Venus. Jupiter is in
the East after sunset.

Wesley, time to invest in a telescope maybe?

oh sh*t Pete. Maybe it was Jupiter. I don't know I'm so Jessica Simpson when it come to stars. ha ha. I'm funny.

It is times like this where you start to think of all the extra zoom that you would love to have. I been there and about $4000 later it still isn't enough. :)

Looks good to me . .I'm hoping to capture Jupiter later this week. Out here it's spoz to be quite clearly visible after sunset . . . we'll see.
