I did it again. or should I say: didn't do it again. I can't seem to get good B&Ws out of my digital. argh. I'm not liking what I'm seeing. Not sure what I am doing wrong, maybe it's a case of Photo Block? I'm realizing that I will always prefer film to digital wjhen it comes to B&Ws. Then again it's so hard to find good cheap darkrooms in NYC. So here is yet another old one. U guys disowning me yet? Check out My B&Ws on a newly created gallery.

I really need a job like this, oh wait I do this when I am on those conference calls!

Lara, I'm not sure what problems you are having with your digital Black and White pictures, but I had some frustration with the quality of the b&w pictures I was getting with my digital compared to what I used to get with film. I've had the best success using the procedure described by Petteri Sulonen in his article on Digital Black & White .

I like it! So there, Mark!

Mark, and another thing. after scanning the photo in, no alterations, or tweeks were made to this print.

Nope not from the digital, she says with her head down. It's a print. My Digital and I right now are going thru some tough times nothing that a little marriage counseling won't help.

Thanks Angela. And Mark, Pffffff <- that's me sticking my tongue out to you. LOL. I have a pretty cheap scanner. Paid under $100. These are prints that I scanned in.

This came from your digital? I'm sorry, but not only are you not disowned, but you get that camera & get back out there, young lady.
Seriously, what's the problem? What exactly did you want different? I love film B&W too . .love the smell of fixer in the morning (in my best Duvall voice)

Beautiful tones and GREAT DOF. Love this! (And you're not disowned) :)

Yep! You're out of the club! Disowned!! The tones in these film B&Ws are really nice. Good compositions, too. Do you like my B&Ws? Hmmm. I'm not sure where I want to see the answer. :) Tell me/us, did you scan the negatives and get this result or scan a print that you printed yourself and tweaked to this quality? Curious.
