Stray Cat Strut

Help. I am despairing. It has rained all day today in New York. I couldn't think of any ideas for my pad whethere indoors or outdoors. Oh my, am I running out of things to take pictures of? can I do this for a year? So I settled for yet another candle. I feel like I am not coming out of my photographic shell to take more of a wider variety of photos. What can I do? Frustruated in New York. :(

Canon EOS 300D Digital Rebel

A very abstract and whimsical image, Lara. It uses every inch of the frame to express its pride -- and the warm glow coming from its heart helps make the point as well.

If this is frustration....stick with it. It works. Great Image!!!

This is a great creative shot Lara. Be proud.

This is a great shot, Lara. Sometimes those lousy weather days lead to the most creativity because you're forced to find art in the completely mundane. Lovely lighting here -- the silhouette is lovely and interesting.

Thank you. Who would haved thought that a simple candle holder would prove to give me a beautiful lit subject?

Patrick nailed it on the head. I just wish I could pull it off as well as you did here. Well done.

Anyone who has been involved in this project for a while has come to the realization that the "extraordinary" is cleverly hidden in the "ordinary," a discovery which you have made beautifully with this very photograph, Lara. You've answered your own question - tomorrow's picture can be nothing more than yet another seemingly "ordinary" thing. And there are WAAAAAAAAAY more than 366 of those things in your little corner of the world! :)

This is a remarkable shot, Lara - I love the light peeking out from the middle of the image, and the silhouetted figures. Perfect focus, perfect exposure, great crop - who could ask for anything more? Certainly not ME! LOL Well done! Kind regards and happy shooting, Patrick

This is GREAT!! Looks like a cat got the lead in "Fiddler on the Roof"! Very good idea!

I LOVE this pic! I can hear Brian Setzer and the Stray Cats singing that cool song...you really captured a mood here.

Hi Lara, thanks for the welcome to PAD! This is a fine creative image! But I know what you mean, I can't imagine finding 366 things to photograph! I think the best days will not be when we find a stunning subject, but instead when we see something creatively and learn something photographically from it : )

This is a great picture. When I get stressed, I end up putting things in my fire place. Candles give really interesting light, especially when it's reflected. Try that too.

Lara, I know exactly what you are experiencing. I believe these winter months are tough for us all. Whatever you do, feel comfortable in being absolutely creative. Stilllife photography is nice as I can see from what you posted today. Unique it is. Flow with wherever your thoughts and creative process lead you. You have a good eye..dont lose faith. Experiment! You can do it:)

Lara, nice image - it may be another candle, but not that I would know! I've tried photographing food a couple of days recently, and this can be good. Even better if you play with lighting, for example a reading lamp or spotlamp. What about a self portrait? You have the same camera as me and it can do really well for you. You can do it, I know you can!
