I started in my mother's back yard around sunrise and walked in a big (maybe 3 mile) loop through the backroads of my childhood. Much of Anderson has changed in the last 40 years, but these roads still look essentially the same to me. (Well, there wasn't a biker bar 40 years ago). I love the houses from the 40's, 50's and 60's. My dad built many of them or houses like them. He also built the bell tower in the cemetary. The tour finishes in my mom's kithchen. Note the brick wall behind the dolls. Dad built the house just after the second world war and built it with brick walls inside and outside because he could lay the brick himself for less than he'd pay to have someone else put up plaster. It was a very comforting house to grow up in.
