I was allowed behind the National Guard’s Barricades to photograph the destruction of Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans’ poorest and hardest hit areas. The devastation is indescribable. Body recovery was ongoing while we were there. Most of the photographs are drab and lacked color but that is the way it is there. Most of the plant life was killed by the salt water and there is a layer of silt and mud on everything so I choose Black & White as the medium for this Gallery
