From a sand dune

South-west Queensland, Australia

The dunes run SW to NE; they are tens of kilometres long, 10 or 20 metres high,
and spaced half to one kilometre apart. This is a low dune, with the next one
just visible near the horizon. We'd just about come to the end of them. Here the
road runs parallel to the dunes; it is quite a different driving experience when
the road runs at right-angles to them. The flat bits between the dunes are not
sand, but clay, with a somewhat different vegetation — spinifex here.
