The roadhouse is in Queensland, at the corner where Queensland, New South Wales and South
Australia meet. You can buy petrol, a cold beer and a good ham-and-salad sandwich. There's
a tall pole for a radio aerial, a not-so-tall pole with an Australian flag waiting for wind,
toilets with signs on the doors – "Flip dry" and "Drip dry", air-conditioned accommodation,
and a dog-proof fence along the state border. Not much else for a very long way in any direction.
