There was a group of children on an excursion, and they had parked their schoolbags on the
veranda of the "Education Centre" here. I was comparing the children and their bags with what
I remember of myself at their age, in the 1940s, and of the children I taught, in the 1960s.
I was struck by how little the children had changed compared with the sort of bags they owned.
