Sandy and I joined the SouthLake SCRC Chapter today, for a spectacular ride to Sarasota! Although we left home before the sun came up, we were treated to an awesome sunrise enroute to the Clermont meet point 55 miles away. 13 bikes, and 15 excited souls departed for the trip down Rte50, 301 and 41 into Sarasota, where we had lunch at the Sand Dollar Rooftop Restaurant. 7 stories in the air, facing the beach and overlooking the Gulf of Mexico ("What A View!"), we all enjoyed good food, great company, many hearty laughs(!), and some much needed air conditioning!
Being abit late in the day, we left the beachfront (boooo!)and headed to I-75 to superslab it home. Of course the skies turned dark and threatening, and when the group detoured off of I-75 (for rain gear I presume), Sandy and I kept heading for I-4 and the eastward trek home. No sooner were we by ourselves....the skies opened up and dumped on us. Woohoo!!! Did it feel good! Never stopping, we rode right through the 15 minute monsoon, and enjoyed most of the last hour of our trip with dripping clothes! Man, did that feel good! :-) By the time we got home, we were completely dry....well, maybe except our shorts and socks....gotta love this Florida sun!
10.5hours, 285miles, great company, great roads, great scenery....couldnt ask for more. Big thanks to the SouthLake SCRC for, once again, making me feel welcome on your rides. Your a classy bunch and alot of fun to be around. My wife Sandy enjoyed herself very much today! Shes only been down here in Florida for a couple of weeks and has been dying to take in the 'sites and scenery'...what better way to do it then on a bike with people such as yourselves. :-)
