The original Eaglehawk Town Hall was designed by Henry Edmeades Tolhurst in 1864 and construction commenced in May 1864 under the supervision of Mr Tolhurst. The foundation stone was placed in position with the use of a specially made silver trowel which was presented to the Mayor, Cr Charles Letheby on July 19, 1864. The building was opened with great pomp and ceremony on February 1, 1865. It was a single story structure. The first move for a “New Town Hall” was made in June 1897. The Mayor, Cr George Loudon opened the New Town Hall on August 14, 1901.
