It's not bonfire night for another week,( we celebrate with a long weekend for Queen's Birthday )though her day is actually in April, but total fireban could be put in place at any time & we had a large stump that had to be removed. My husband tossed in some large branches to create the sparks while I took the shot. What do you think of the effect. More in the winter Gallery if you would like to see them. http://www.pbase.com/laine82/winter_2005
The Possums are active as nightfall comes. We have a pair I see as I drive in sitting in the Cedar tree. They were a bit spooked so it will take a while for them to accept us hanging around
I have started a gallery in the hope http://www.pbase.com/laine82/backyard_wildlife
Laine, now we have two things in common, coffee and close-up flower. This is a moody picture that I really like , I know it is your old picture. I am a fan of low light and darkness. 3 years and I found it now. What a patience this flower picture has. VVV

Gorgeous mastery of light, shadows and subtle colors. Voted.
KT
beautiful lighting on the daylily, love it. I love bonfires and campfires also, they just mezmerize me, when I sit around one, it don't take long before me eyes start to get heavy, when we camped, they would have to wake me to get me into the tent, LOL.
You can have bonfires? Wow. Not here, except on the beach. I miss the bonfires we had as a kid. Such fun! But back then, we even burned our trash in a 55 gallon drum out in the "way back" yard. Nice shots!
Laine, the light is really spectacular here. Is this lit from the fire, or did you use flash? I'm so intriqued by the dark in the upper right, contrasting with the subtleness on the lower left. Love this picture.
hmmm.... apparently my last attempt to post a comment did not get loaded. :(
Anyway...
I think I said I liked the framing of the flowers and I wanted to ask you about your "bonfire night" - is it a national celebration? :)
