Galahs wandering through our backyard
Cucatua rosecapilla
This colourful, noisy parrot about 35 cm long is seen all over Australia.
It always reminds me of my mothers 1960's bathroom..hehe !!

Lucky you, Laine! When I was a kid I wanted one of these so bad. The zoo in Copenhagen had a handful and they were all incredibly cute and tame - but they couldn't be found anywhere else in Denmark. Which was probably just as well - I certainly didn't have the means to buy one and it would have been pure torture to keep a social bird like this alone. GMV

We saw a flock of these when we were in Australia. I'm sure they were pulling windscreen wipers off cars - but maybe that was a different bird!

I find them cute. Laine, where did you learn so much about birds? I had a wonderful 2nd grade teacher who loved birds, and at that time, I became quite proficient at naming the species around our home. We had feeders, binoculars, guidebooks, you name it. But alas, over the years, I've lost much of my knowledge. Where did you learn so much? Good photo!
