Female King Parrot & Crimson Rosella Lamington National Park, Qld.

The Crimson Rosella, Platycercus elegans, is native to east and south east Australia. It has also been introduced to New Zealand and Norfolk Island. Its preferred habitat includes mountain forests and gardens.

They make strikingly beautiful and quiet aviary occupants, and are popular as pets as well.

King Parrot's can also sometimes be known as Southern King Parrots or a King Lory. These colourful birds inhabit mainly forested areas, but will often live close to suburban areas as a source of food.

I think I have told you that we used to raise Rosellas and others....and I just am amazed and enchanted to see them in their natural habitat.

Is that your version of pigeons down there? They behave like that, but they look better.
