This is my Teddy, I was given him by my parents on my first birthday which now puts him in the vintage era. I screamed apparently when I woke and found him in my cot, but I got over it as I don't remember a time when Teddy hasn't made me feel good just by looking at him or squeezing his tummy to hear his inside music box play Rock-a-Bye-Baby. He's rather unique as I've never seen another one like him. Teddy has been well cared for, my children and grandchildren knew to look but not touch. He has two beautiful glass eyes and I've always thought he could understand what I was telling him....I've always understood Christopher Robin and Poor Bears relationship...it's just like Teddy's and mine :))
"The Teddy Bears' Picnic" is a song consisting of a melody by American composer John Walter Bratton, written in 1907, and lyrics added by Irish songwriter Jimmy Kennedy in 1932. It remains popular as a children's song, having been recorded by numerous artists over the decades. Kennedy lived at Staplegrove Elm and is buried in Staplegrove Church, Taunton, Somerset, England. Local folklore has it that the small wooded area between the church and Staplegrove Scout Hut was the inspiration for his lyrics.
