king parrot ~ female ?

In the garden yesterday...it is difficult to decide if this is a female or an immature. Females have a grey beak and this is as close as I could get to find out.

We always feel privileged to have these come to visit

Great to have this in your garden!! I go for an immature, because of the red starting to show in the neck feathers. A great shot. I hope it continues to visit!

Interesting that the red works as a camouflage color here.
Beautiful bird, great image!

A magnificent image. I love the colors, especially the way the parrot's colors are repeated in the green and reds of the background. Just wonderful! V

Wow, you are lucky Laine. What a great shot.
From my book, it seems to be a female from the colouring, but an immature from the eye
:-)

From this little you tube video it looks to be a female: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dfSVNNkTZ1Q

I am impressed with your wildlife Laine. If I saw this one at home I would think he escaped from his cage.
What a beautiful bird.
