Emily 7/06/2010

Emily was unwell during June so her chemotherapy was cancelled for 5 weeks
to give her body a chance to recover enough to go on. We were concerned about
what this long break may do regarding her remission, but thankfully all seems
to have remained in the negative.
She resumed treatment 8 days ago & is tired & cranky due to taking so many
steroids a day as well as other things, but her blood & platelet counts
yesterday were still up. She has a further 42 days in this round & hopefully
she will be okay again next week.

She had a CatScan last week & the fungal infection on her lungs appears to be
reducing. She will continue on the anti-fungal medication for 6 months

In this photo she was under the influence of a sedative & sat like that for 30 minutes
without blinking!!

update..Emily reached day 17 and became critically unwell. She as admitted to ICU suffering a spinal paralysis at 4am on Saturday 24/7/10

Ohhhhhhhhhhh, i am just discovering about this precious child....
My heart goes to all of you. So young and already going through so much...
She is a courageous very young lady. I so wish her well...and give her a hug for me,
even two long ones... You captured beauty, tenderness and softness through these horrible circumstances.. Beautiful little girl...

A very sweet and moving portrait. Her strength will continue I am sure. My heartfelt hope and dreams of a bright future I send to Emily. Even teddy bear looks a little tired.

Keep going little lass, you can do it.
Cindi Smith13-Jul-2010 21:28
Poor little baby. I just want to hug her. She is probably wondering why on earth she has to do this. My heart melts when I see her. God will protect her, of that I'm sure.

The poor lamb...it must be terrible for her, and for you and the family of course. As a dad myself, I can't begin to imagine the anguish and heartache you must all be going though. Thinking of you all as always Laine....big hug for Emily from me :o)

Heartbreaking to see this Laine. I hope things take a turn for the better very soon, so she won't have to suffer anymore. Emily certainly has a lot of friends on PBase on her side!

This brings me both joy (answered prayers) and great heartache. Tears are rolling down my cheeks as I type this and look at her precious face. My commitment to prayer goes on as it is all I can do for her at this moment. Perhaps it is the best I can o regardless.
Yvonne13-Jul-2010 01:25
It must be hard for her to understand why she can't go home with you.
The softness you captured in this shot Laine seems to exude the love you have for her. x

I am sure that all of us here on PBase would like to take turns sitting in a rocker and holding her.

Poor thing. How dreadful that she has to suffer. I'm glad, and relieved, to hear that she is responding to the antifungal! Lots of prayers heading her way!

30 minutes without blinking ~ oh my!
It is good to see her surrounded by her favorite things ~ her teddy bear and big yellow ball.
Hugs and kisses to this little angel! :)
