Charro Days, Brownsville, Texas, February 25, 2007
Charro Days is the big city fesdtival for Brownsville. It has its origins with civic leaders over fifty years ago; however, it has become
a de facto pre-Lenten festival. It was very sunny the day I took these photographs - the high contrast resulted in shadow blocking. The cameras I used were Nikon D70s, shot in RAW, and an older FE2, using Fuji Velia 100 slide film. I had problems with shadow blocking on both for which some detail was recovered in Photoshop. The RAW files required more post processing than the Velvia scans, particularly for saturation and contrast. The Velvia files had to be toned down slightly. Unless indicated FE2/Velvia, the images are from the D70s. I am undecided on which images are better, the slides or the D70s. You can draw your own conclusions.
