The Bounty, built in 1960 for MGM’s Mutiny on the Bounty starring Marlon Brando. The 180-foot (54 metre) square-rigged three-master was constructed in Lunenburg, N.S., based on the original ship’s drawings still on file in the British admiralty archives. Refitted in 2006 this is one very beautiful sailing ship.
We waited hours for this ship to sail into Victoria harbour, with a gale blowing the Tall Ships could not sail in under full sail. Standing in the rain with a strong gale-force wind we were with another group of hardy photogs taking shelter of a overhanging cliff on the far side of the harbour entrance standing on a narrow ledge. Was it worth it, you bet it was. I will be posting more Tall Ships in the next few days and will catch-up with everyone soon. Just got back from Victoria today.
