It was a very busy place in the Little Qualicum River estuary today, there were hundreds of Trumpeter Swans in the bay. Bald Eagles everywhere but mostly in the large firs across the estuary and too far for photographs. The swans come here to winter all along the eastern coast of Vancouver Island. The noise was deafening what with the eagles calling at each other and the swans trumpeting along with the shrieking gulls and the whistle of the scoters that sat off shore in the thousands. Along with that several California sea-lions were barking, I hope no one in this house was trying to sleep! Light was not very good but it was so entertaining.
