We took a few days to spend a quiet time on Quadra Island. We stayed at this Lodge, owned and operated by the Cape Mudge We-Wai-Kia Nation. It was here that Captain George Vancouver made his first visit in 1792. This is a very dangerous point at the start of Discovery Passage and the Cape Mudge Lighthouse, just a few steps away, lights the way for many vessels sailing to Alaska. This is the main lounge and built in the "Gukwdzi" or Big House style, you can see the size of the timbers in relation to the man in the entrance. All the decor and artwork are First Nations work. It is simply a wonderful place to visit.
