Because of the high mortality rate of wildlife in Banff National Park, not to mention the damage to cars and trucks, on this fast highway that cuts through it, the highway has been fenced. To facilitate the movement of wild animals from one side to the other special wildlife crossings have been built. the fencing channels the wildlife up and over the highway via these special overpasses. Who says we don't care about our wild animals:-)
