To join the crazy atmosphere of the carnival celebration in the south of The Netherlands (Noord-Brabant & Limburg) I would like to show some pages of the book 'I always get my sin' of Maarten H.Rijkens, a former manager of Heineken. The book gives a hilarious picture of the incorrect usage of many Dutch top functionaries whenever they speak English. Mostly it's the cause of the Dutch-English homonyms. For instance there is a Dutch word (jurk), it sounds like or looks like the English word (jerk), but the Dutch mean something different (dress). The writer calls it denglish. I'd rather say: 'Don't speak double dutch'. An incorrect usage of the English language can cause embarrassments and misunderstandings.

For keeping on making the same mistakes over and over again, this gallery will function as a memo pad for me. I hope that I, the one with a Dutch nationality, and you can learn something out of this. A difficult issue that I am dealing with is the missing part of the explanations on how to use English correctly or what the Dutch wants to express. So your assistance will be highly appreciated......
