My name is Ken Manzanares. My dads name was Benny and my grandfather was Manuel Manzanares from Ignacio Colorado they moved to Utah just wondering if there are any family members out there very proud of my family name and we are planning to go to see the castle. And river in Spain.

I would like to point out that although the name of the castle is Manzanares, the family name was de Mendoza, NOT Manzanares.

My mother's family is Manzanares of Huerfano County Colorado,San Luis Valley of Colorado, Northern New Mexico USA and Mexico (1700's). This picture adds to the proud heritage of the Hispanic people throughtout the world.

sono lorenzo mazzanares in origine manzanares,il mio primo antenato arrivato in sicilia citta palermo,si chiamava tommaso manzanares,arrivava dal regno di spagna,in epoca 1.745,ca,1748.d.c.nel periodo della dominazione spagnola anche nell italia meridionale al tempo dei borboni di spagna.in italia questo cognome venne trascritto in vari modi.da manzanares a mazzanares,mezzanares,ed infine mezzanalis.e contunua ad essere sbagliato.forse per la pronuncia non facile.

I am descendant from the branch of the Manzanares family that went to Palermo, the name took on some changes and ours ended up Mezzanares, I remember my grandfather telling stories about how the name was once Manzanares and how they came from Spain in about 1730 or so, and about the castle. I have found the documentation showing where the name was changed for some of us around 1830 in Palermo. Some were changed to Mazzanares also. All Manzanares, Mezzanares and Manzanares in Italy are all descendants of Tomas Manzanares of Spain.

My grandpa is Rudolf Valentino Manzanares, and he is from the San Luis Valley of Southern Colorado. Many of us live is Denver now.

The Manzanares el Real Castle served as a residence to one of the most powerful families in Castilla during the 14th and 15th c --the Mendozas.
