An interesting aspect of visiting historic sites in China is to see how much the Chinese value their heritage. The small village of Hongcun, near the Huangshan (Yellow) Mountains, has residences dating from the Ming and Qing Dynasties. Hongcun is designated as a World Heritage Site and was filled with Chinese tourists during our visit. There were many Chinese artists and art students drawing and painting the picturesque scenes.
