The Monighan Dragline outside of Sumpter, Oregon
Image taken in 2004 at the place the machine rested for years. It was moved to the Cracker Creek Museum of Mining in the fall of 2008 where it is now on display.
A walking dry-land dredging machine built in 1919. Fitted to "walk" in 1925 and moved to Sumpter in 1940 to dig for gold on the western edge of town.
This machine is one of the oldest walking dredges in the world and is one of four that have been preserved.
10 tons, 80 foot boom and it could move 6000 pounds of earth in a single scoop.
