The flood prevention canal systems receiving water from neighborhood and stores excess water or moves it to the primary regional flood control system. It is very important to keep the access to the canal system in a case of an emergency.
The strip of the land along the banks was covered with various vegetation, and many of the large trees were mostly classified as invasive - not Florida native.
