Result of unexpected frost?

There were a number of trees on which we saw dead leaves like this. There were also some shrubs in our front yard that had dead leaves like this.

I am guessing this has happened because we had a couple of nights of temperatures near freezing.

Yes, it looks like frost damage to the tips, but there can sometimes be other reasons, such as fungal or insect damage causing wilt. The plant looks otherwise healthy, so likely frost.
