The entrance to the chullpa

This is how bodies were taken into the chullpa. These openings are extremely small.

These are vertical funerary towers from pre-Incan times. The stonework was quite precise, and it is different from the stonework of the Incans.

The bodies were placed in an inner chamber. Chambers used to contain many people from a family. The bodies were placed in a fetal position, and they were accompanied by some of their earthly possessions. The chambers were not very high.
