On the high birdge to the Pinkerton tunnel

The open cut in the ridge next to the Pinkerton Tunnel is where CSX "daylighted" their railroad tunnel in 2013 by cutting through the mountain and removing the roof over the original tunnel. They did this because the original tunnel was too small to run double stacked freight cars. This was done so that freight traffic that was a part of the "National Gateway" system could freely flow across this section.
