The Leaping place of the spirits! Legend has it that this is where the spirits of the Maori come when they die to sail north to join their ancestorsh. This is holy land, and until recently was not taken care of appropriately by the government. They have corrected matters by moving the new visitor center to a location away from the sacred area. This place is hard to get to and is far away from habitation. The road to Cape Reinga was also only recently tarred.
