For the April Challenge - Scavenger Hunt. This one is Traditions.
It is a spring tradition in Appalachia to dig and eat ramps.
Ramps grow wild on steep hillsides and are a member of the onion family. Ramps have a very strong odor but a sweet mild taste when cooked. They are full of nutrients which are needed after a long winter with no fresh fruit or vegetables from the garden.
Other entries for the scavenger hunt can be viewed here.
