Rhododendron

West Virginia

The rhododendron is the state flower of WV. It grows wild in jungles in the forest. This is an ornamental variety. The wild rhododendron is more subdued in color, a light pink, and doesn't bloom this early.

The explosion of colour of the cultivated rhodos is amazing! You almost need sun-glasses for some of them. THis is striking. V

These are great blooms! Almost look like a pink kale with the curly wavey leaves.
