Wow, where is this? A historical society ought to buy and restore it. Really nice find.

Great find and a good photo of it Karen. It may be that they are repairing it after years of neglect. A roof would be the first step I guess. Hope so. Looks like there's a large cellar down there too.

Karen, I find your images of W Virginia so interesting ... you are showing us your corner of the world and capturing these overlooked gems for ever. This isn't just a cabin, but a way of life and a culture that will probably vanish - but we get to live it / relive it in your images.
Wonderful documentation!

Definitely asks a few questions!

A mystery...
Wonderful old shack, startling new roof. Very interesting.

Wonderful find--very intriguing mixture of old and new. Looks like the foundation may have a few issues as well as other problems. Nice shot.

Looks so strange with the new roof. Probably a summer place. Nice shot.

New roofing iron left over, why not put it on the cabin....this is one to watch, Karen. It may end up the palace I'm sure it once was. Great capture & tones. ~gmv

Nice shot.

Someone must be trying to restore it. The roof was surely designed for snow runoff.

look at all the cool stuff on the porch..my first thought was a new roof?? a great find..
Guest 09-Apr-2006 13:57
very nice, funny they would invest in such a quality roof. I would live there in spring fall and summer.

That new roof is quite curious.
Nice find.

Wow so old...why do you think someone would put a new roof on it? Looks like is was kind of cute at one time

Excellent shot Karen. The new tin roof is really interesting. I love pictures of old buildings like this.

Great find Karen! Love the POV and composition, with the shadows and light. Well done.

Nice find and shot> looks rather drafty

It's amazing that this is still standing. Here this cabin would have been firewood years ago.
Guest 09-Apr-2006 12:27
Maybe the roof was put there by the wild animals that have made the cabin their home? Looks like a broom on the porch? As man becomes more uncivilized, maybe the animals are taking over?

very nice capture regards Helen

Houses were small at this time, and people had a lot of children. Hard to imagine. Nice capture.
