Winter Solstice - Blah Day

West Virginia

I know it's close to Christmas and I should be posting wonderful colorful photos with glitter and lights but it's seven degrees out. My backyard is a skating rink. I slide precariously to the tree where my bird feeders are to refill them. I carry my sneakers and wear boots so I can navigate the steep uncleared paths to my patients houses. My car is falling apart piece by piece. I can't wait to get my power bill. Gas is going up again. Bush is babbling on the TV every day so I can't even watch what I want.

Have I missed anything?

Oh yeh, even my camera agrees. This was shot in color.

Olympus C-5050Z
1/640s f/7.0 at 11.9mm iso64 full exif

other sizes: small medium original auto

Ya know, you listed all the junk I was thinking of today, but you pulled a beauty in this pic. Longer days means more sun and that much closer to a climate that will sustain human life :)
Did I say I really like this??

Just remember: Don't Panic. Everything will be fine.

Well you brighten my day with your colourful outlook on life in general & I bet you do for those patients you visit each day too.
Since yesterday the days get longer, now whether that's a good thing when it's minus something I don't know, since my goose is frying right now without the aid of an oven....have I cheered you up yet ?? no ?? well can't say anymore other than Merry Christmas Karen :>)

LOL. As always, great pic and great narrative to match. Matches my mood sans the extreme cold and snow. Karen, you've made my year much brighter, so thank you very much for being there.

Hey, Karen, hang in there. And, when you get enough of the cold up there, come visit me in New Orleans and I'll show you some bureaucracy bull.

Spring is right around the corner, you would hope.

This is a great shot to go with your story.
Spring is just 89 days away... all will be better then;
well all except the babbling bush.
