I was actually in town the day you took these photos. As I recall the weather was absolutely beautiful. I am getting homesick in the worst way...

I was born and raised in Bluefield and have always loved the beauty of my hometowe as seen from the overlook and that goes back to when the site didn't even have a name.

I have lived in Penascola, Florida for the past 40 years, but Bluefield and the great state of West Virginia will always be home.

The first and only time I viewed Bluefield from this vantage point was around 1940. I was about four or five years old at the time. I have never forgotten its beauty nor the beauty of the Blue Ridge. As the old saying goes, "you can take the boy out of the country, but you will never take the country out of the boy."
