Windows
Just another southern West Virginia town
The pros and the junkies
Never know what's going down
Too focused on that fix to see
There's blood in the basement
And red is on the tree
The big bust left everyone dry
Desperation drove them to the street
Nobody getting anything
Nobody geting high
A hundred jonesing junkies
Gathered in the park
They came and went
And speculated about
Who really was the narc
Somebody wore a wire
Somebody ratted out a friend
One thing was for certain
This was surely the end
Skinny, toothless
Shirtless, shaking cold
They wandered up and down
The monkey's claws grabbed hold
The strong will always find
And prey upon the weak
I guess that how she ended up
With that psychopathic freak
A promise of three Lortabs
Was all that it took
For her to follow him home
Without a second look
Chosen from the many
Who congregated there
She went into his house
And then down the stair
He didn't give her drugs
He raped her instead
Killed her for knowing him
And left her laying dead
He cut her into pieces
On that cold winter day
And buried them in backyards
All along the way
The spring thaw drew a dog
To a leg somewhere
He dragged it onto a porch
And left it laying there
The missing person report
Was finally resolved
The crime no longer hidden
They found the man involved
Two mothers weep now
One for her son's crime
The other for her daughter
Gone before her time
Just another southern West Virginia town
The junkies and the pros
Are wandering around
The sun comes up after weeks of gray
While silent windows on the street
Watch the brand new day
