Wheby's Grocery Store

West Virginia

Looking up Mercer St. in Princeton. This area is being renovated. I spoke with Mary Jane Wheby who owns the grocery store and whose family has several other businesses. She told me she is very encouraged by the changes including the new train museum which is due to open soon and is about a block away.

I like the nostalgic feel to this. Great sky and clear light. I like the "Tobacco" sign in the other photo too though!

I agree with this selection best.. not only because of the sign, but because the perspective is like a small child looking up.. great sky too

I really like this sort of shot that captures a place and time.

Another great small town shot. I hope she can survive, but the town looks too quiet.

As far as I can see, you composed this without any hints as to the era, well done. A little PS work and this could pass for a 50 year old photo.

Small town anywhere. Great shot Karen!

Great glimpse of a small town. I too like the lamp post. Nice angle, it draws you into the picture!

I like the style of the streetlamp, small town USA. Hope she succeeds--the big chains have driven everyone out of business. Pretty blue sky here.

Besutiful sky and wonderfully well-maintained street and buildings.

I hope it works out too .. love the Americana shot .. such a peaceful scene (maybe that's the bane, eh!) I agree that the parking sign detracts but I'm glad you included it for reference =] Pete

The whole street looks impressive with it's great red brick buildings. Life's hard enough for small store owners. I hope it works out for her, Karen.
