LOL at Mary's comment. 'fraid I'm not the kind of gal that likes being buckled down either. Excellent caption. ;^)

Is this the 'bible belt' or 'buckle belt'????
Great catch!

When I was in my 20s, I was involved in a head-on collision at about 35 mph for each vehicle. I kissed the windshield hard enough to require over a hundred stitches in my mug.
Been buckling up ever since.

Seatbelt law has been here for many many years & it's second nature to hop in the car & click. My beautiful friend lost her life at age 16 because she wasn't wearing one & I often think about the forty more years I've had & she hasn't as a result of her being tossed onto a road... good find Karen.

interesting how a simple word can trigger a memory, or inspire a PaD, or reflect a social conviction . . . . or just be colorful =]

Never expires! mmmmm.
We don't have these in the UK... pity I might find today's PaD.

I was driving through Lake City Florida on a photography assignment many years ago. Lake City is where the little girl was kidnapped and killed by serial killer Ted Bundy and was the first of many convictions he had for rape and murder. At the time, Bundy was still in the long drawn out appeal after appeal process that took many many years trying to save his miserable skin. Remember those times? How that handsome man decided to represent himself in court, (and did quite well actually), and how it seemed the entire judicial system was a mockery of what was the “right” thing to do? Lake City is a beautiful little country town, and I was so impressed with it I even moved there for a while. The little girl that Bundy killed had been a beautiful and popular child, and it seemed every other person that you met was a friend or relative of hers. It was about this same time that the State of Florida made it a state law to “Buckle Up”, and there was still a lot of opposition and controversy to it. Driving through the little town that bright and cheery spring morning, I saw a huge road-side bill-board that someone in the town had rented long term from the sign company. It consisted of nothing but the simple words, “I’ll buckle up when Ted Bundy buckles up. It’s the LAW!” Maybe a year later he finally did “Buckle Up”, and the world was freed from one more monster.
